Positive Boundaries Workshop

Positive Boundaries Workshop

We live in a sensory-rich world and spend each waking moment taking in information from the world through our senses. Our intricate nervous system and brain process this sensory information and we respond emotionally and act on it. As we progress through life, we develop the ability to select which sensory information to attend to and how to respond. Your young baby’s brain, however, is much less developed than yours.

Presented by Occupational Therapist and Baby Sense author Meg Faure, this course brings together all of Meg Faure’s most popular parenting lectures and delivers a 7 part course that will set you up for a smooth transition to parenthood:

Meg Faure

Hi, I’m Meg Faure. I am an Occupational Therapist and the founder of Parent Sense. My ‘why’ is to support parents like you and help you to make the most of your parenting journey. Over the last 25 years, I’ve worked with thousands of babies, and I’ve come to understand that what works for fussy babies works just as well for all babies, worldwide.

Acknowledge your toddler’s intent. By giving airtime to your little one’s preferences and ideas (all be they crazy at times), you will let him know that he is understood. Say: “I know that you want to ….”

Boundaries must be clear and confirmed. Toddlers develop security in the presence of clear boundaries. Say: “But we do/ can not ….” Be firm and clear and consistent.

Choices should be offered constructively – giving your toddler freedom to assert himself in the context of options you sanction or can live with.

Take the guesswork out of parenting.

Emotional development is closely linked to touch. Touch affects bonding, attachment and has an impact on your baby’s self-esteem.
